Mariana Areias’ profile proved to be strategic for TORRE based because of two fundamental factors necessary to work on complex cases: the diversity and complementarity of her education studies and a sharp focus on corporate issues, thanks to the positions and functions she held in her career.
Her experience as a reporter corresponded to her initial training: she studied at Escola Superior de Comunicação Social (ESCS) (ESCS) in Lisbon, Portugal, and later completed her journalism degree at the Centro Universitário de Brasília (UniCeub). After graduation, she worked for Rede Amazônica, Correio Braziliense, and Radio CBN Brasília.
She was the winner of the Investor Education Award from the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) in 2016, on behalf of Correio Braziliense; and later won the Engenho de Comunicação Award for “Best Radio Program”, on behalf of Radio CBN Brasília.
If her journalistic experiences provided her with the ability to read the social, political and institutional landscape, other courses would offer new skills. Mariana has a postgraduate degree in Marketing and Social Media from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV). She also specialized in Creative Writing, Digital Environment Consultancy and Crisis Management at Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing (ESPM). This refined her versatility in advisory and consulting roles.
She worked as a public relations specialist at Confederação Nacional da Indústria (CNI), specifically in content production and relationship building between the organization and the National Congress, through digital strategies. She also worked as a press officer for TIM through the company Weber Shandwick, and represented the operator in the coverage of meetings of Anatel’s Board of Directors.
She had experience in the communication structures of the Ministry of Defense and Companhia de Desenvolvimento dos Vales do São Francisco e do Parnaíba (Codevasf), where she participated in communication and media relations strategies.
After her experiences in government communication, she specialized in corporate-business strategies and joined the Branded Content team at the Metrópoles portal. With all this baggage and skills, she was invited to join TORRE.
